BLET Academy Begins

The Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Academy begins today!

Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment as law enforcement officers with state, county, municipal, and select private agencies.

This state-mandated program covers a wide range of topics, including:

• Criminal, juvenile, civil, traffic, and alcoholic beverage laws
• Investigative techniques
• Patrol, custody, and court procedures
• Emergency response
• Ethics and community relations

Students who successfully complete the program earn a Basic Law Enforcement Training certificate and are eligible to take the certification examinations required by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission and/or the North Carolina Sheriffs' Education and Training Standards Commission.
